New Year Detox

I hope your past year was productive, insightful, and wonderful. For many, including myself, 2019 was a bit of a rough road. I am glad that it is over and I wouldn't wish to repeat it, but I am also glad it happened because I learned a lot. Among the changes for 2020, I will most likely be spending more time down at Luna Circle Wellness working in the community acupuncture clinic there. In order to kick off the new year right, Jan 1st I will be taking walk in patients and appointments from 10am to 11am. We are also having a last minute new year special acudetox treatment for $20

Acudetox is a protocol that uses 5 needles in each ear, 10 total needles, and is good for stress, anxiety, and for quitting bad habits that no longer serve you. For the past 3 and a half years I have been a certified acupuncture detoxification specialist supervisor overseeing CADS who provide this treatment in addiction/harm-reduction spaces and I know it is a wonderful and low cost / low pressure treatment option. I have also used it for patients that just need a quiet place and a little help dealing with everyday stress.

Community Acupuncture

At Luna Circle Wellness I provide private acupuncture sessions and consultations, and I provide treatments in our community acupuncture clinic. I also provide community style acupuncture treatments at other locations around town for patient populations that cannot easily make it to the clinic. Because acupuncture has a cumulative effect, that is each treatment builds on the progress made in previous treatments, community acupuncture is often the most convenient way for patients to get the number and frequency of treatments that is ideal for their health. Some patients find that a combination of private treatments and community acupuncture is the best way to nourish their health. Community acupuncture is acupuncture preformed in a group setting, where several patients relax with needles retained at the same time. Typically, acupuncture needles are retained for 30-60min for one treatment. A group setting allows a doctor to treat several patients an hour, and thus lower the cost per...

Acupuncture In Modern Healthcare

Several national acupuncture associations worked together this past year to publish a whitepaper on the role acupuncture has to play in opioid epidemic. You can read more about that here or download the full 21 page report here . The two main points are that acupuncture is safe and effective for pain as a first line treatment and that acupuncture is an effective adjunct therapy in treating opioid addiction. Antibiotic Resistant Bacteria And Acupuncture Also this week, wired published an article titled: The Post-Antibiotic Era Is Here. Now What? detailing the rise of antibiotic resistance bacteria declaring: Folks are dying simply because there is no antibiotic available to treat their infection, infections that not too long ago were easily treatable. As the article points out, millions of lives have been saved by the use of antibiotics and the development of new and different classes of antibiotics. Western medicine has made great advances since the development of penicilin....

Even though this formula comes towards the back of modern formula textbooks, it is often one of the first prescriptions an aspiring physician learns. The typical scenario is that a Chinese medicine student eats too much at a party or celebration the day/night before. In the morning, after complaining of a stomach ache, their teacher will give them this formula and then use the 'teachable moment' to discuss the herbs in the formula. The primary action of this formula is Promoting digestion and regulating the Stomach. The ...
